Organic waste can be turned to valuable products that can contribute to mitigate phosphorus depletion. This approach has important environmental benefits and creates business opportunities that are explored in this paper. In line with this, this paper will aim to compile the main technical and legal requirements for nutrient recycling such as raw materials that can be used and will explore the market for recycled products. In addition a slow release granular fertiliser has been developed and marketed in UK and Ireland to test the market acceptance.
