Why codigest with wheatstraw?
● By-product of agriculture, high abundance and a high percentage that could be co-digested that goes to waste
● Wheatstraw has a carbon:nitrogen ratio of 80:1 and has a high percentage of lignocellulose which is hard to degrade
● Low water content compared to other feedstocks (<10% w/w)
● Wastewater sewage sludge is also highly abundant has a high water content and a C:N ratio of ~ 8:1
● Codigestion of wheatstraw with sewage sludge provides a more amenable environment for anaerobic digestion
