Byosis Ammonia Recovery

The ByoFlex technology is a ‘Air Stripping’ ammonia recovery solution designed to treat anaerobic effluent and convert ammonia into a valuable product to support the circular economy.

ByoFlex – Design philosophy

• Effluent from the dewatering system is heated to 75–80°C before entering the stripper.

• Strip air is blown in a counter-current direction to the effluent.

• The air is saturated with ammonia and is scrubbed in two stages. Sulphuric acid and water are used as scrubbing agent.

• The end-product is ammonium sulphate with ± 8% Nitrogen. This is a pure liquid product that is pH-neutral and transparent.

• The effluent from the ByoFlex system is still warm and Heat is recovered
