Time to recover the nutrients from digestates and increase anaerobic digestion sustainability: PLENARY KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

Ana Soares, Professor of Biotechnology Engineering, Lead of the Resource Recovery Community, Cranfield Water Science Institute, Cranfield University, UK

(free)

Sludge liquors are typically 1-2% inlet flow but can increase the nutrient load:
ammonia by 25% (no BNR) and 30% (BNR plants) phosphate by 25% (NO BNR) and by as much as 66% i(BNR plants)
– Stress bio process
– More aeration
– More chemical dose
– More sludge
– Nutrients just recycled around…

But there is advanced hydrolysis AD
