(free)Two management systems for post tunnel maturation of green waste compost are compared for development and dispersion of organic odours. The first was a traditional turned windrow system turned using a windrow turner when oxygen concentration fell below 10%. The second was treated with Biosa, an effective micro-organism technology based on lactic acid bacteria. Clear differences in the oxygen and temperature profiles were observed between the two systems. Weekly measurements were taken from within the two windrows for six weeks using absorbent tubes and subsequently analysed by GC-MS for the top twenty volatile organic compounds. Comparisons of yield stability and compost quality are also made between the two compost products after six weeks processing. KEY WORDS Composting, green waste, odour
