When organic resources are used on land they are generally stockpiled at the sites where they are going to be used and/or at the sites where they are produced. Stockpiles are vulnerable to wetting by rain, which can cause them to slump and in the worst cases to run; it can also result in leachate. The materials become more difficult to spread and pollution is a risk. Stockpiles can be a source of odour nuisance. In many countries there is a legal requirement that stockpiles are securely contained. This paper will describe research into finding solutions to these issues and a practicable, reuseable, easy-to-use covering and containment system that was proved during the research.
