How do you decide which safety trips are high integrity and which can be ordinary trips?
Every process plant has safety trips and the latest ACOP for DSEAR refers to BS EN 61508 for deciding the appropriate level of integrity for each safety trip. This paper will show how the risk assessment process has been used on applications to identify the required Safety Integrity Level for the safety trip. We will also show the assessment matrix that has been accepted by the HSE and by the national Dryer Users Group as a calibrated assessment tool for sewage sludge dryers.
This paper will help you understand BS EN 61508 and how to avoid it.
