SewerBatt is an innovative tool developed from research at the University of Bradford that uses acoustics to determine very quickly the serviceability of sewer and drainage pipes. The technology is light in weight and easy to use. The pipe remains in service during the test. The acoustic data is processed immediately and the results are displayed for the operator on site and are saved for future reference.
SewerBatt can detect and locate conditions such as blockages and structural faults, as well as establishing the position of pipe ends and lateral connections.
Advantages over traditional inspection methods are the speed of measurement and the ability to measure directly from the manhole.
It has been shown many times that SewerBatt can reduce the cost of sewer surveys and make affordable the monitoring of a much larger proportion of the asset stock than when CCTV is used alone. Savings ranging from 35% to 82% have been demonstrated.
