(free)Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are one of the leading causes in the eutrophication of rivers and oceans. Phosphorus is a non-renewable material; therefore, its recovery is essential. Porous materials have long held significant potential as a disruptive technology for wastewater treatment. Ordered porous materials such as Zeolites and metal organic frameworks (MOFs) represent classes of porous materials with significant potential for the removal of N and P. In this work, we have explored the use of zeolites and metal organic frameworks for the removal of phosphorus and nitrogen derivatives in dairy upstream water.
