As a part of remodelling one of its major WwTWs (750,000 pe), Severn Trent Water decided to examine fertiliser recovery as an alternative to “conventional” biological treatment of the ammonia load in liquor from dewatering anaerobically digested sludge.  This paper will review the technologies, their carbon footprints and their costs
