•3 Projects with Thames Water in the “NVZ” Scheme
Chertsey STW
Camberley STW
Crawley STW
•Compliance with EU Nitrogen directive (91/676/EEC) Liquid digested sludge could no longer be applied to land in “nitrate vulnerable zones”
•Thus need to dewater digested sludge at Chertsey STW

Requirement
•Insufficient capacity at Chertsey to return ammonia rich sludge liquors
•Receiving works already considered overloaded even before catchment growth
•Limitations recognised by Thames Water
•“Project Brief” developed to include liquor treatment
