Impact of THP on digestion

• THP makes organic matter more readily available for the anaerobic digestion

• Better VSR

• Higher Biogas yield

• Lower viscosity – usually digesters are therefore operated at higher DS concentration to increase capacity

• This also means more gas is produced per digester volume – the gas has less time to escape from the sludge
