Nye Mjøsanlegget, Lillehammer in Norway – Biogas Plant with THP for Organic Household Waste

The Glor company in Lillehammer, Norway is now extending Mjosanlegget with digestion for biowaste. They have once again chosen to invest in a Thermal Hydrolysis Treatment (THP) for an efficient hygienisation and are now complementing it with the EWFA technology for an efficient pre-treatment of the waste. The capacity of the new pretreatment is 43 500 t/year. The substrate is mainly biowaste from households but can also contain liquids, fish, glass-, metal- and plastic packed food from the industry. Biowaste packed in glass will be treated in a separate line as a development project between the client and the contractor. The project also includes a new digester with gas mixing and hydro-cyclones for removal of inert material. In total the plant is calculated to produce 4 170 000 Nm3biogas/yr, 16 100 ton sludge cake/yr and 35 450 ton liquid digestate/yr. The net energy production is 21,3 MWh/yr. The first biowaste will be fed to the new plant during 2016. Purac is the main contractor of the project and Cambi is delivering a THP and other key-equipment as a sub supplier.
