Challenges Faced by Cold AD

1. Reduced Microbial Proliferation

Bacteria Grow much slower at colder temperatures and makes granular sludge formation occur much slower

2. Reduced Hydrolytic efficiency

Hydrolysis is impaired, slowing down the process and severely impedes solid degradation

3. Biomass Washout

The washout of biomass becomes detrimental owing to the impaired bacterial growth at lower temperatures
