• Ion exchange is an effective alternative to conventional nitrification for N removal
• Non-destructive treatment provides opportunity for nutrient recovery
• Cost of exchange media regeneration currently prohibitive to implementation

• Air stripping is a large and expensive approach
• Acid stripping across a membrane provides effective, high rate & compact N removal
• Recovery as (NH4)2SO4 in rich liquid, opportunity for crystallisation using 1 technology

• Restoration of brine efficacy must be studied over time
• Crystal formation & suitability of crystallisation on membrane must be determined
• Knowledge of potential markets will direct best approach
