- Wessex Water is working with the Environment Agency to trial catchment permitting during AMP6 to deliver phosphorus reductions and environmental benefits at a significantly reduced cost, approximately £25m less than the standard treatment solutions
- Catchment permitting represents a more sustainable solution by optimising existing assets, trialling innovative technologies and enabling wider catchment solutions, all of which could reduce chemical and energy requirements
- This approach compliments the key themes of the Water Framework Directive: sustainability, source apportionment and focussing on environmental improvement in a technically feasible and cost effective way
