This paper describes a mathematical model for comparing different sludge handling strategies.
The aim of the model is to facilitate the comparison of different strategies for treating sludge from
pulp and paper mill sludge. The treatment strategies of two mills have been modeled and the
model shows that one of the mills is using a favorable treatment strategy and the other mill uses
one of the least favorable treatment strategies. The model gives information, which can be used
to determine the most desirable treatment strategy for each site.
