H2OPE For The Future: PRESENTATION ONLY

Cassidy, L., SEM Energy Ltd, UK

(free)

Traditional methods of slurry handling are no longer viable. Neither are they compliant with legislation, particularly in the growing number of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) across the UK. Nutrient application of organic material onto arable land is increasingly under scrutiny to reduce risks from nitrogen and phosphorus.

The Effect Spreading, transportation for disposal and long-term storage of slurry all cost our environment dearly: from soil degradation to biodiversity loss, ground water pollution to the production of harmful greenhouse gases. There is a more sustainable – and cost-effective – way to manage agricultural waste, without compromising soil health and the benefits for carbon sequestration. At SEM, we have worked across the agricultural sector to develop a suite of leading-edge slurry management solutions which are proven to make real in-roads into these challenges.
