A new digester design template has been developed where the digester uses a patented flat roof design and integrates three solutions that are designed to increase efficiency, reduce risk and reduce the operation cost. The flat roof design provides a reduction in CAPEX costs while using high quality materials, ensuring a long operational lifetime. The three solutions – the GasTop, recirculation mixing and grit removal, and the Gas Lock all take advantage of the flat roof design while decreasing maintenance and down time for the digesters. The flat roof design template allows the operator to concentrate on the benefits of anaerobic digestion and not dealing with problems traditionally associated with it.


  • Minimize explosive area due to lower volume of biogas on the top of the digester
  • Avoid the risk of having foam into biogas system
  • Facilitate the maintenance
  • Purify the biogas by:
    • Reducing the water content in the biogas by cooling the biogas
    • When washing the biogas, some CO2 is absorbed in the water
    • When washing the biogas, some H2S is absorbed in the water

Data from plant operating on different climate conditions will be presented. And the impact on the further treatment of biogas will be evaluated.
