(free)Late in the construction of the crude sewage Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) works at Bakewell, UK, it was noticed that the recycle required to achieve the UCT configuration had been omitted from the design, but that addressing this would have been relatively simple. This lesson was transferred to the later crude sewage EBPR works at Cropwell Bishop, UK, which can manually
be switched between UCT and AAO configurations. Next was the settled sewage design for Uttoxeter, UK which will manually be switchable between Johannesburg and UCT+Pre-denitrification, a choice driven by denitrification rate measurements. Additionally the Uttoxeter design takes advantage of an increase in Flow to Full Treatment (FFT) to drive EBPR further with a partial crude sewage by-pass that also saves the cost of an extra primary tank. Data from Bakewell STW and Cropwell Bishop STW will be presented, and details of the Uttoxeter STW design. All of the designs lack a nitrified mixed liquor recycle as the sites have no Total-Nitrogen driver.
