(free)Abstract:
Manufacturing of our consumer goods is based on specific and in many cases by patent protected know how. During the production route often side steams with by-products and/or waste streams appear as suspended solids in water. Depending on their physical properties the solids could be removed mechanically and dehydrated to desired moisture.
Table 1: Side streams; Dehydration and Disposal Route
Industry | DSmax [%] | Disposal Route |
Food | 5 – 25 | agricultural soil improvement |
Chemistry | 20 – 30 | incineration |
Pulp & Paper | 30 – 60 | incineration |
Tannery | 40 – 60 | incineration |
Biogas from Food | 5 – 25 | agricultural |
Biogas from Recycling | 30 – 50 | agricultural/incineration |
Biogas from Manure | 30 – 50 | agricultural |
Mining | 70 – 80 | Landscaping, cement oven, brickworks |
