(free)Two Thermal Hydrolysis Exelys plants have been commissioned in 2019. This technology differentiates to the established TH technologies on the market by being a continuous process instead of a batch process and being able to process sludge with a dryness in excess of 20 % dried solids.
The advantage of a continuous process is to greatly simplify the installation reducing its maintenance cost and its operation complexity.
In addition for small to medium plant capacity, a standard package Exelys range has been developed following DfMA principles with skid mounted units assembled and tested off site with minimum site activities for the installation.
The presentation will give the feedback of the Exelys plant at Yeosu in South Korea operating in Lysis Digestion (LD) configuration treating only biological sludge. The plant was started in the middle of February 2019 and has been operating close to its design capacity since the end of April.
The second Exelys installation started in 2019 is at Osberstown WwTW in Ireland and consists of an Exelys Package size 3 (EP3) from our standard package range.
It is also operating in LD configuration on mixed (primary and secondary) sludge with imported sludge representing 50 % of the design capacity of 9,200 tDS/an.
Process commissioning is planned to start in June 2019.
Benefits of a continuous process, of the DfMA approach and first feedbacks of the start-up of the plants will be presented.
