SLUDGE EFFECT – Scope of the study

• Motivation : Sludge is a potential resource of materials and energy, but the presence of contaminants reduces the feasibility of its use in circular economy contexts

• Goal : Quantify the contaminants (organics and HMs) that remain unabated in the current management of sewage sludge in Norway, and the eco-toxicological impacts of their emissions to air, soil and water.

• How : Explore how the introduction of thermal treatment methods change the situation in a scenario analysis, including the effects on GHGs emissions from a life-cycle perspective
