Can we predict microbial responses in anaerobic digestion? PRESENTATION ONLY

Chong, J., University of York, UK

(free)

Conclusions
• ‘Omics methods are powerful tools for gaining a “rapid” understanding of AD microbiology
• We have observed reproducible microbial community changes over a large volume range (mL – 1000s m3 ) and over a range of timescales (days – years)
• AD community composition is complex but communities behave in a (potentially) predictable manner
• Identifying the factors that provoke community responses is important for prediction
