Traditionally on a design and build project, the optioneering stage can take several months to understand, develop, and achieve agreement with the client for a single solution. Designs Sprints are a way of speeding up this process by gathering all stakeholders together for a
series of meetings over a short, intensive period. In February 2022, I participated in such a Design Sprint over a 4-day period for the upgrade of a wastewater treatment works that faced substantial growth with stringent final effluent quality parameters.
