Since June 2019 the sludge treatment of WwTP Utrecht, in the Netherlands, has been controlled and optimised by Aquasuite MINE.

Aquasuite MINE optimises operational performance of sludge logistics and treatment using artificial intelligence and machine learning. It predicts sludge production and monitors the sludge buffer to automatically optimise the sludge line, and both internal and external sludge logistics, by prioritising transport movements.

Wwtp Utrecht consists of two sludgelines which both treat around 7,500 ton DS/year. In one sludgeline the internal Nereda sludge is buffered (gravity thickener) and dewatered with two decanters. In the other sludgeline the sludge of 11 external wWwTPs is buffered and dewatered with a further two decanters
It is expected that Aquasuite Mine will acheive higher dewatering, up to 15% less sludge production, lower PE consumption, lower processing costs and efficient sludge transportation planning, while operational efforts are reduced.
