Sunner, N., Stantec (UK) Ltd, UK
(free)The water industry is facing one of its biggest challenges in its history with not only delivering one of the largest Asset Management Programmes (AMP) but also the most stringent consent parameters. AMP7 is likely to include a £5b Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) with up to 750 sites required to meet Phosphorous levels as low as 0.25mg/l. A significant growth programme is also likely, particularly in the South of the UK where headroom has been eroded. When combined with ever tighter leakage targets, AMP7 will be a large capital delivery programme. The size of the programme will stretch the whole industry from designers to construction. New ways of working will have to implemented to deliver such a significant programme. Once these schemes are delivered, water utilities will also have to upskill to ensure tightened consents are met consistently. Both challenges and potential solutions will be discussed during the presentation.
