(free)Abstract:
EKO GEA has developed a novel, energy-neutral wastewater treatment technology that is 100% anaerobic. Contrary to expert opinion which states that wastewater requires an aerobic step for nitrification, our WwT process accomplishes both nitrification and de-nitrification with anaerobes. Two novel technologies make this possible:
1. Additive – Prebiotic biostimulant (BCx) – feeds and protects anaerobes to build vast, diverse, concentrated anaerobic populations; an unprecedented, ideal culture media. BCx is EKO GEA’s core technology.
2. Biofilter media – porous, robust cristobalite stone houses and holds microbes in a fixed film; never needs re-charging or replacing The combined result is an anaerobic WwT process which can be delivered either via our residential packaged plants for up to 50 PE (BS EN 12566-3-certified) or via custom-designed, in-ground concrete systems for commercial, municipal, or industrial use.
The process is robust enough for high-strength waste streams like MSW leachate, sewage sludge, manures, food-processing, dairies, etc. Two separate, proprietary, mechanical pre-treatment technologies have also been developed for industrial plants and applications:
1. Hydrodynamic explosion – reduces particle size to 40μ.
2. Concentrator – solution for handling dilute waste streams
We have performance data from many installations – residential, industrial, agricultural, and commercial, and we are keen to introduce this technology beyond our home market in the Balkans.
