This paper presents the technology and advantages of producing dewatered and thermally dried sludge (above 65% d.s.) from a unique technology, which combines, in one single unit, mechanical and thermal dewatering.

The CENTRIDRY® enhanced dewatering system is a development of the well-established solid bowl centrifuge which has been modified to include thermal heating directly following the conventional mechanical dewatering stage. The high dry solids product is produced safely and can be utilised in all disposal routes. Typical values are given for energy consumption, liquid and vapour emissions together with a detailed review of the safety concepts.
